In brief

In response to the COVID-19 emergency, Law Decree No. 76 of 16 July 2020 (so-called Decreto Semplificazioni), converted into law by Law No. 120 of 11 September 2020, introduced new measures in order to: (i) increase energy production from renewable sources (due to the simplification of authorization procedures and the provision of new energy incentives); (ii) stimulate the consumption of “smart” energy; and (iii) develop electric mobility. These measures aim to contribute to the achievement of the EU’s 2030 energy and climate goals provided under the Integrated National Energy & Climate Plan (INECP).
