We will focus on the three following interconnecting topics relevant from labor as well as from a data protection law perspective:

  • Co-determination of the works council in the introduction of IT systems and practical implementation,
  • Right of access under Art. 15 GDPR and
  • Equating employees with consumers in data protection under Californian law.

Dr. Matthias Köhler is a partner at Baker McKenzie’s Berlin office. He spent his legal traineeship in the jurisdiction of the Higher Regional Court Frankfurt and passed his second state exam in Frankfurt in 2009, before he studied at Bayreuth University and completed his Dr. jur. in 2008. He also studied law at the University of Technology, Sydney and completed there his LL.M.

Felix Arnold is an associate in Baker McKenzie’s Berlin office. He spent his legal traineeship in the jurisdiction of the Kammergericht Berlin and passed his second state exam in Berlin in 2016. Prior to that he studied law at the Free University of Berlin and the University of Konstanz. He also studied law at the University of Cape Town and completed there his LL.M. focussing on dispute resolution.
