Raffaele Giarda chairs Baker McKenzie's Global Technology Media & Telecoms Industry Group and co-heads the Commercial-Corporate/M&A practice in the Firm's Italy offices. He has contributed articles to law journals, and often speaks at and moderates Italian and international conferences and seminars on IT/C legal and regulatory issues. Mr. Giarda is a lecturer at the University of Rome as well as at the Italian National School for Public Administration. He joined the Firm in 1989 and became a partner in 1999.

Sue is a partner in Baker McKenzie's IP, Data and Technology team based in London. Sue advises on complex technology and commercial deals and projects.
Sue has advised on technology projects for over 24 years. She advises on strategic technology deals including cloud, outsourcing, digital transformation and development and licensing. She also advises on a range of legal and regulatory issues relating to the development and roll-out of new technologies including AI, blockchain/DLT and crypto-assets. Sue is a key member of our global AI practice and leads on responsible AI governance and AI related transactional projects at the firm.
Sue co-leads our Commercial practice in London. On the commercial side, Sue's practice involves advising on a range of strategic commercial agreements including supply and distribution agreements, manufacturing agreements, warehousing and logistics agreements, IP licensing and assignment agreements, joint development agreements, collaboration agreements and franchising agreements. She also supports clients in preparing terms of business and related documentation for new offerings and coordinating global roll-outs.
Sue also co-leads our transactional practice in London supporting our Corporate teams and providing strategic support on the commercial, technology and intellectual property aspects of M&A transactions, including advising on complex and strategic ancillary commercial, IP and transitional agreements related to acquisitions, disposals, carve-outs and JVs.

Yann Padova joined Baker McKenzie as a partner in the Information Technology Group and head of the Data Protection Practice in Paris. He is internationally recognized in digital network law, personal data and regulatory law. Yann Padova has an extensive experience in data protection for 17 years and has served both as a regulator and a lawyer. In November 2017, he has been appointed “Country Leader” by the International Association of Privacy Professional (IAPP). Before joining Baker McKenzie, Yann Padova served as Commissioner with the Commission de Régulation de l’Energie (2015-2017), to which he was appointed by the President of the National Assembly due to his skills in the field of personal data. Before this, he had worked for Baker McKenzie in Paris as Senior Counsel in the Information Technologies and Communications team (2012-2015). For 6 years, he was Secretary General of the CNIL, the French data protection authority (2006-2012) where he participated in the very first rounds of negotiations of the GDPR. He began his career as an Administrator at the National Assembly (1995-2006) where he specialised in personal data laws, criminal law and criminal procedures and notably participated in the legal work that led to the transposition of the Directive 95/46 on data protection into French Law.

Raúl Rubio joined Baker & McKenzie´s as a partner in 2011, practicing in the area of information technology and communications. He has over 15 years’ experience, having worked for the Spanish office of a Big Four accounting firm prior to joining Baker McKenzie. Mr. Rubio is a frequent speaker at several universities, law schools and companies, and has given several lectures on topics related to his field. He has written numerous legal articles in business journals and magazines relating to intellectual property, audiovisual law and new technologies.

Jason Raeburn is a Partner in Baker McKenzie London and is an intellectual property and technology litigator. Jason's practice has a particular focus on complex technology disputes, often relating to trade secrets and copyright in the fields of software development and licensing, cloud and AI-related implementations. His practice also encompasses IP crossover issues involving breach of contract, IT infrastructure, the misuse of data and reputational threats. Jason also sits part-time as a judge in the English High Court, as a Deputy Master of the Chancery Division and as a Judge of the First-Tier Tribunal, hearing specialist appeals. Jason was recognised by Who's Who Legal as a "Future Leader" in Litigation (2021) and (2020) having been identified as one of "the most promising litigators in the world, whose skills and expertise are already turning heads at an international level". Legal 500 describes him as a "stand out name" for TMT and a key lawyer for high value IT and software disputes. Jason has also featured in Managing Intellectual Property as an "IP Star" (a ranking for notable intellectual property practitioners) and was shortlisted as a rising star in the British Black Business Awards (2021) and the British Legal Awards (2020). He was shortlisted as "Solicitor-Advocate of the Year" in the 2018 Law Society Excellence Awards in connection with his oral advocacy in court and appeared as sole advocate in a precedent case regarding the jurisdiction of the English Court of Appeal (Civil Division) - Handley v Lake Jackson & Ors [2016] EWCA Civ 465.

Joanna de Fonseka is a senior associate in Baker McKenzie's Technology group in London, having joined the Firm as a trainee in 2012. Joanna is also a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/E).

Magdalena Kogut-Czarkowska is a counsel in the IP/IT department of Baker McKenzie Warsaw. She is seasoned in personal data protection and intellectual property law, focusing on e-commerce and consumer protection issues. Ms. Kogut-Czarkowska is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/E). Between 2011 and 2012, she went on a 12-month part-time secondment in a high-profile global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company, where she handled IT and privacy matters.
