Argentina: Communication “A” 7905 – Extension of the effective date of modifications to the National Payments System

On 30 November 2023, the Central Bank of Argentina issued Communication “A” 7905 (“Communication“), extending the effective date of certain modifications to the National Payments System related to immediate debit (DEBIN) and the interoperability of credit card payments through Quick Response (QR) codes.

In depth

The Communication extends the effective date of the amendments as follows:

  • 1 March 2024: Replacement of DEBIN with the immediate “pull” transfer system for customers who have used the recurring DEBIN as a funding tool up to and including 31 December 2023. From 1 January 2024, customers who wish to deposit funds into their accounts for the first time will only be able to do so by immediate “pull” transfer.
  • 1 February 2024: Interoperability of QR codes with respect to credit card payments.

The Communication became effective on 30 November 2023.
