Praween Chantanakomes is an associate at Baker & McKenzie’s Bangkok office. He was admitted in 2008. He is currently active in the Corporate & Commercial, Mergers & Acquisitions, Environment, Natural Resources, and Pharmaceuticals practice groups.

During his time at Baker & McKenzie, Praween has been involved in assisting multinational clients with their operations in Thailand. He advises on issues relevant to foreign investors, such as foreign investment laws, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate structures. He has also advised on consumer protection law; food, drug and cosmetics law; and natural resources regulations.

Praween’s recent representative clients, cases or matters include:

  1. Advising on corporate compliance, anti-bribery and FCPA issues, as well as participating in investigations in Thailand with respect to the aforesaid matters, with a special focus on pharmaceutical and healthcare companies;
  2. Proviing advice to multinational companies on foreign investment in Thailand, including on the Foreign Business Act;
  3. Advising on general corporate and commercial regulatory matters, in particular to specific industries such as logistics, natural resources, and pharmaceuticals;
  4. Assisting clients in the compilation of environmental, health, and safety regulations;
  5. Being a member of teams conducting merger & acquisition due diligence investigations, in the areas of general corporate matters, licenses and permits, the environment, commercial contracts, and litigation; and
  6. Providing legal advice and analysis on restrictions, rules, and requirements with respect to the pharmaceutical industry group, i.e. drugs, medical devices, food, including advice on advertisement and labeling issues, as well as tenders to be submitted with government agencies. Other laws include the Petroleum Act, the Foreign Business Act, corporate law, anti-bribery legislation, and regulations on foreign participation, such as legislation related to Board of Investment promotion and the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand.
