Germany: What does the “traffic light coalition” bring to labor relations? First outlook

Dr. Steffen Scheuer is a member of the Firm’s European Labor Law and Global Labor Law practice groups. He is experienced in all aspects of employment law and compliance matters. Dr. Scheuer’s dissertation on stock options was awarded the Price of Honors by the Employers Association for the Metal Industry. He regularly delivers speeches for Baker McKenzie’s clients on employment law and compliance issues, and conducts management trainings in labor law and compliance policies. Dr. Scheuer also practiced in the Firm’s San Francisco and Palo Alto offices.

Elena Speckmaier is an associate in the Employment Group in Baker McKenzie's Munich office. She joined Baker McKenzie in July 2020 as a law clerk during her legal traineeship and became an associate in 2021. Prior to joining the Firm she was employed as a research associate and law clerk in another international law firm in Munich. She spent her legal traineeship in the jurisdiction of the Higher Regional Court Munich and passed the second state exam in 2020.

Miriam Siemen is a member of the Firm’s European Labor Law and Global Labor Law Practice Groups. She is experienced in advising national and international companies in all matters of individual and collective labor law as well as compliance matters. She completed her legal clerkship at several major international law firms in Frankfurt and at the German Federal Foreign Office in Berlin.

Dr. Lena Kern is a counsel at Baker McKenzie’s Frankfurt office. She spent her legal traineeship in the jurisdiction of the Higher Regional Court Frankfurt. Lena studied law at Frankfurt University, graduating in 2008, and completed her law doctorate at the University of Mannheim in 2010. She passed the second state exam in 2010. In 2016 she became a specialist in labor law (Fachanwältin fuer Arbeitsrecht). She is a member of the Firm's European and Global Labor Law practice groups.

Dr. Felix Diehl is an associate in Baker McKenzie's Frankfurt office. Prior to joining the Firm, he spent his legal traineeship in the jurisdiction of the Higher Regional Court Frankfurt and passed the second state exam in 2017.

Dr. Sebastian F. Pfrang is an associate in Baker McKenzie's Frankfurt office. He studied at the universities of Tuebingen and Heidelberg and graduated from the University of Heidelberg in 2015. After graduation, Sebastian worked as a research assistant at the legal chair of civil, trade, business and labor law, and received a doctorate (Dr. iur.) from the University of Tuebingen in 2019. He passed his assessor exam in 2020. Prior to joining the Firm in 2020, Sebastian spent his legal traineeship in the jurisdiction of the Higher Regional Court Karlsruhe. As part of his legal traineeship, he worked inter alia with the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information in Stuttgart, Germany, and the legal department of a chemical company in London, UK. Sebastian regularly publishes on a wide range of matters, in particular with regard to employment, labor and data protection law, and is a regular lecturer at the University of Tuebingen.

Tatjana Serbina is an associate in Baker McKenzie’s Berlin office and a member of the German Labor Law Practice Group. She spent her legal traineeship in the jurisdiction of the Higher Regional Court of Brandenburg and passed her Second State Exam in 2018. Prior to this, Tatjana studied law in Germany (Heidelberg, Berlin) and Spain (Bilbao) and graduated from law school in 2015. She also studied law at the Queen Mary University of London, where Tatjana obtained her LL.M. degree in 2019. During the LL.M. she focused on Computer & Communications Law.

Kerstin Schmiedel is an associate in Baker McKenzie’s Berlin office and a member of the German Labor Law Practice Group. She joined the Firm after spending her legal traineeship in the jurisdiction of the Higher Regional Court of Bamberg and passing her Second State Exam in 2019. Prior to that, Kerstin studied law in Germany (Wuerzburg) and Spain (Seville) and graduated from law school in 2017.

Felix Arnold is an associate in Baker McKenzie’s Berlin office. He spent his legal traineeship in the jurisdiction of the Kammergericht Berlin and passed his second state exam in Berlin in 2016. Prior to that he studied law at the Free University of Berlin and the University of Konstanz. He also studied law at the University of Cape Town and completed there his LL.M. focussing on dispute resolution.

Christian Koops joined the Munich office of Baker McKenzie in 2015. He is a member of the Firm’s European and Global Labor Law practice groups. Christian advises domestic and multinational companies on employment law matters, including outsourcing and other transactions. He frequently speaks at in-house and external seminars, and conducts training on a wide range of employment matters. He also practiced in the Firm’s Berlin office.
